I started taking an interest in photography as a freshman year in high school when I was challenged with a concentration based assignment that would string throughout one semester. I chose to do candles, and the funny thing about candles... They're a golden light... Cameras also mess around with light. Almost immediately, I went home to my dad (who also fell in love with art in high school), and told him I wanted to borrow my grandpa’s camera. My dad ended up purchasing a Canon Rebel T5 for the household. I was very slow picking it up, and I am still learning every day. My parents had frequently asked me to take pictures of them for various events, and I began getting requests from my friends to take their photos as well. Slowly, I began learning how to edit, and cultivating my style over the course of 2.5 years before officially launching Kristen Nguyen Co. After lots of “Googling”, "YouTubing", trial and error, I finally found the style that I loved and expressed my vision for photography. 2026 is my 9th year in business. It's been incredible!
During my senior year of high school, I began to utilize my camera for film work. My videography journey began as the content creator for my Sports and Entertainment Marketing class. In the span of eight short months, I would improve with every film I made before adding film as a service to my business. The summer after graduation, I attended the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute for film. Storytelling has become such an integral part of my brand, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
There are a few things I love outside of photography: my sweet family, spending time with friends, Sooner football, all things Taylor Swift, bright pink, food, traveling, and serving others through community involvement
